Tasting Notes

Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Jan 19
The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very perfumed bouquet with tart red cherries, strawberry, vanilla and subtle incense aromas that gradually waft from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, quite grippy in the mouth, pastille-like in terms of purity though, it just misses a little depth and complexity on the finish compared to other vintages. It is well crafted, but it just needs more personality to show through.
